The Association of Music Therapists of Serbia:
- assembles music therapists who completed their education or are in course of education in music therapy and represents their interests in the society and its organizations;
- organizes education of music therapy and sets educational standards in this field;
- gives support the application of music therapy in state and private institution on the territory of the Republic Serbia and works on embodiment of the professional identity of music therapy and music therapists in our community:
- proposes professional eligibility criteria essential for carrying out of techniques of music therapy and seeing to it that they are accepted: and applied by corresponding social and health institutions and music therapists themselves;
- contributes to the promotion of the position of experts in this field and regulations and encourages and assists their members in completion of their music therapy education;
- develops the criteria and norms essential for the creation of the ethic codex in the field of music therapy and insists on their respect:
- encourages the development of the scientific-research activities and publishing activities in field of music therapy;
- involves in the promotion of theoretical knowledge in field of music therapy in our society;
- Assembles of the professionals in the other fields who could contribute the further development of music therapy.
Tasks
The Association of Music Therapists of Serbia:
- organizes and supports music therapy education and encourages and assists their members in completion of their music therapy education;
- organizes lectures, professional meetings, educational seminars, symposia, congresses, etc,
- organizes and supports scientific and professional publishing activities of the members of the Association in field of music therapy and close fields;
- supports the research of current problems in the field of music therapy and involves in collecting professional literature;
- participates in the proposal of music therapy in the regular undergraduate, graduate curricula, programs of specializations and sub specializations;
- monitors the practice of its members and the application if Ethical codes of the profession of music therapist and ensure that and for this purpose enhances in its members the sense of moral, responsibility and humane attitude to their clients and patients; undertakes corresponding measures in case of violation of ethical norms;
- Gives opinion to corresponding state and professional bodies relating to health policy.
